Fundraising fun!

5th April 2017 | Blog

Just over a month ago, children, schools and organisations across the UK fundraised for us as part of their World Book Day celebrations.

Donations continue to come in and to date, you have raised a whopping £100,000! That’s enough to send 50,000 brand new books to children and adults in communities which do not have the books they need. Thank you so much for your support!

We’ve been delighted to hear of all the ingenious ways you fundraised for us, from dressing up to reading competitions, bake sales and library fine amnesties. Here are some of the fun things you got up to to  mark the day and support our work:

Bay House School & Sixth Form LRC had a Harry Potter-themed day and raised £800 for us in the process!

Canon Slade School held a book-themed cake decorating competition. Cake sales raised £215!

The Chartered Management Institute’s offices in London and Corby raised £211 through a book and cake sale.

Holme Valley Primary School also held a Harry Potter themed day which included a Quiddich match and raised £255!

University of York Library held a fines amnesty and book swap, raising £418!

Huge thanks to everyone who fundraised for us on World Book Day. It costs just £2 to send a new book to a library or school in Africa so every Pound raised really does count!
