A message from our Chief Executive
Yesterday we heard the terrible news that southern Turkey and northern Syria have been devastated by two 7.6 and 7.4 magnitude earthquakes.
Thousands of lives have been lost or disrupted, and the damage to infrastructure is catastrophic. It will be months – years – before lives can return to normal.
For so many, this is the latest in a long list of tragedies.
We are in contact with our partner in the region, Syria Relief. They have a huge task ahead of them and have launched an emergency appeal to help victims facing the destruction of their homes, the impact on their families and the bitter cold.
We stand ready to help once readers can once again make use of the medical and educational texts that we have been sending to support Syria Relief’s work since 2018.
In the meantime, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with all those affected by this disaster.
