Give girls like Lydia the chance to read
There are 774 million illiterate people in the world. Two thirds of them are female.
In many parts of the world, school and learning to read isn’t considered a necessity for girls. This needs to change.
When girls like Lydia in Uganda are able to read they marry later, have higher wages, build healthier families and educate their children – ending the cycle of illiteracy and lifting families out of poverty.
This is why we are providing books to girls like Lydia to encourage them to read through our partners, the Uganda Community Libraries Association (UCLA).
Sign the pledge and send a message that girls like Lydia must have the chance to read. When 300 people pledge, we’ll let UCLA know that here in the UK, people like you are backing girls like Lydia.
