Books are magic
Every child should have the chance to discover the joy and wonder of opening a book. Will you help a child discover the magic of reading?
Too many children are missing out on the magic.
In rural Zambia and around the world, families often can’t even afford three meals a day. Children’s schools are short of the most basic necessities – so buying books for school or home is simply out of the question.
But a gift from you today could help send the beautiful brand-new books that welcome children into the magical world of reading.
Just £2 sends the next book
Without someone like you, Laila might not have discovered the magic of books.
When Laila started school, she had no books to help her make the leap into the magic of reading. But thanks to our partner, Simpact Foundation, Laila’s school library received story books – and she’s now a keen reader.
When Laila comes home from school, she is always talking about a book.

Yet there are still many children who may never enter this magical world. In Zambia alone, the Simpact Foundation aims to reach 250,000 children like Laila. And that’s just one of our 194 partners.
We want to send the books that each and every child needs to discover the magic of reading. But we can’t do it without you.
What your gift means
Tamala teaches just down the road from Laila’s school, and she’s determined to give her students the best start in life.
When she had no books to teach her pre-school class, she built story books from manila paper and hand-drawn figures. Today, she has the books she needs to inspire her students – but so many teachers worldwide still don’t.
It made such a difference when picture books arrived. This wonderful gift to our school library left the children wide-eyed. Opening the boxes was like opening treasure chests. They’d never seen anything like it before.
