What does The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust do?

The Trust was set up in 1979 and its objectives have closely followed the interests of the Ferguson family in their commitment to education, peace, and reducing poverty in developing countries. Since 1997, more than £40 million has been distributed to a range of charities working in the UK and overseas.

What Book Aid International projects does The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust support?

In 2019/20 the Trust funded the Inspiring Readers Uganda project which is helping over 20,000 children in 25 primary schools in Uganda to improve their reading and literacy skills. The project will also build the capacity of teachers and librarians to support children with their reading journey and links local public libraries to primary schools to build sustainable partnerships ensuring the books and training has an impact on children for years to come.
