How your dress up changes lives

Every year across the UK schools and families celebrate World Book Day by fundraising to help us send more books to people around the world who do not have the books they need. Children donate £1 and use our costume guides to dress up as their favourite book character, schools hold fundraising events and individuals choose to mark World Book Day with a donation.

The funds you raise will help us send brand new books to thousands of public and community libraries, prisons, refugee camps, hospitals, schools and universities. The books we provide reach millions of people each year, giving them the opportunity to improve their lives and shape their futures.

In 2017, you gave an astonishing £138,000 – that’s enough to send over 69,000 books to people who need them. In 2018, we hope that you’ll help to raise even more.  It costs just £2 to send a book. Please consider fundraising or making a donation this World Book Day.
