On Tuesday night, an astonishing £2,026 was raised by supporters from across the book industry at our eighth annual literary quiz night.
Nearly 90 guests joined us at Hachette UK‘s 6th floor venue to battle it out for first place, raising enough to send 1,013 brand new books in the process.
The competition was fierce! It looked like 2017 champions, Book Brunch‘s ‘The Birthday Party’, were on course to take the crown again. The room buzzed while the two teams separately consulted and after a tense couple of minutes they gave in their answers. With everyone on the edge of their seats, quiz host Joe Haddow told the silent room that the answer was 80 languages and ‘I Ain’t No Paperback Girl’ whooped and cheered as they were named the victors of the 2018 quiz.
The quiz was expertly hosted by radio producer Joe Haddow and included a guest round written by author and trivia enthusiast Mark Mason. His ‘Nothing to Do With the Booker’ round used Man Booker-winning novel titles as inspiration for questions that had nothing to do with the novels …
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us and raised so much to support readers across the world. Congratulations to ‘I Ain’t No Paper Back Girl’ on their win. Special thanks to Hachette UK for so generously donating their stunning venue for the night, to Joe Haddow for hosting so brilliantly and Mark Mason for his ingenious round of questions.
We’d also like to thank the following organisations for generously donating raffle prizes and helping to raise so much on the night:
