A new chapter: Our move to Swindon
In this blog, our Chief Executive, Alison Tweed, reflects on an exciting new moment for Book Aid International.
On 1 October 2025, Book Aid International turned a page and began a new chapter in our story. We are thrilled to share that we are now operating from our brand-new warehouse in Swindon.
This move marks a major milestone for us. Our new space—more than twice the size of our previous home in Camberwell—gives us room to grow, dream bigger, and most importantly, reach more readers around the world.



Our goal is ambitious: to send two million brand new, carefully selected books a year by 2030. And with this new facility, we’re closer than ever to making that a reality.
Meeting generosity with growth
Each year, UK publishers offer us hundreds of thousands of brand-new books. Their generosity is extraordinary—but until now, space constraints meant we had to turn many of these offers down.
Now, that’s changing.
With our new Swindon warehouse, we can say “yes” more often. More space means we can manage bigger, more varied donations and send more books to the communities that need them most. In short: fewer good books will go unread.
Welcoming our new team
We’re delighted to welcome a new Operations team in Swindon who will manage every step of the journey—from receiving donations to carefully packing and shipping them to our global partners.
Oliver Lee has joined us as our new Operations Manager. He brings energy and leadership to this pivotal role, overseeing all warehouse operations and the movement of books to readers across the globe.
We’re also welcoming Sally Murphy as our new Partnerships Manager. Sally will work closely with publishers, manage incoming donations, and build strong relationships with our partners to ensure the right books reach the right places.



Together, Oliver and Sally bring a wealth of expertise—and a shared passion for books and literacy. We’re thrilled to have them on board.
