My name is Esther, I am 15 years old. I live at Unit 6 with my mum and dad and six siblings. I am the fourth child. Unit 6 is a very rural area, but highly populated. Most of our parents are farmers. We have a nearby market that’s very small.  

I walk to school, it takes me more than 30 minutes. The worst thing about going to school is walking during the rainy season without an umbrella. Girls are not supported like boys are, because sometimes our parents think we don’t have what it takes to complete our education compared to boys.

When I grow up, I want to be a doctor because I want to help sick people. My favourite subject in school is Science and Technology. I learn a lot of things in this subject which will help me become a doctor. Going to school and using the library will help me become a doctor, get employed and make money for me and my family.  

I read once or twice a day. I read here at school and at home. I know many things from books and I really like the fact that coming to school brings me closer to my dreams.

My favourite book is interactive vocabulary because I read it with my friends, its always good to read as a group. I read for fun, it takes away my sadness. 

In our school library we now have school textbooks and many novels. Our teachers use the books to teach us.

Before our school received books from Book Aid International it was hard, most of us didn’t know to how to read English.

I would like to say thank you to Book Aid International and the people who donate to them. I hope Book Aid International send us more of all the books, all books are important for different learners’ needs.
